Polygon in AutoCAD

Polygon AutoCAD

In Autocad there are several ways of constructing a polygon in a drawing and all of them boil down to the use of these or other tools:

  • tool Cut to AutoCAD;
  • the Polyline tool;
  • tool Polygon in AutoCAD.

To create irregular polygons in AutoCAD, it is advisable to use the Tools Line, Polyline, and here for drawing regular polygons - the Polygon tool.

Polygon tool (MH-Angle command)

The Polygon tool in AutoCAD allows you to build the correct polygons. This tool calls the MH-Angle command.

Methods of selecting the Polygon tool in the AutoCAD - calling the MH-Angle command

Call the MH-Angle command in the AutoCAD, select the Polygon tool in the following way:

  1. The menu bar is the item Drawing - string Polygon;
  2. The Main tab of the tool ribbon - the Drawing toolbar - the button (tool) Polygon;
  3. Floating toolbar Drawing - button (tool) Polygon.
  4. Write the name of the command in the command line Polygon.

Methods for drawing a polygon in the AutoCAD

There are 3 ways to draw a polygon in AutoAud:

  1. A polygon inscribed in a circle;
  2. A polygon circumscribed around a circle;
  3. Polygon AutoCAD built on the side.

How to build a polygon in the AutoCAD inscribed in a circle

Click the Polygon tool. AutoCAD will issue a request:

Number of sides:

In response to the query, we enter the number of sides of the regular polygon in the command line 12. The autocad will issue the following query:

Specify the center of the polygon:

If you specify the center of a polygon in AutoCAD, then its further construction reduces to drawing an inscribed or described polygon around the circle. Drawing a polygon on the side will not be available.

Click the center of the polygon by clicking on the free space in the drawing. The following prompt appears:

Set the placement parameter:

and two options for the MH-Angle command are available:

  1. Inscribed in a circle.
  2. Described around the circle.

Select the option Inscribed in a circle.

Since we have already specified the number of sides of the regular polygon in the AutoCAD and its center, it remains to specify the radius of the circumscribed circle around the polygon (since the polygon is drawn inscribed in the circle). In response to an AutoCAD request:

Radius of the circle:

We indicate radius 100.

Once you specify the radius of the circle, the polygon in the AutoCad inscribed in the circle will be built, and the MH-Angle command completes its execution.

How to draw a polygon in an AutoCad described around a circle

The principle of constructing a polygon circumscribed around a circle is similar to creating a polygon inscribed in a circle, so consider drawing the polygon side by side.

Drawing, creating a polygon Autocad on the side

It remains to consider the last way to create a polygon in AutoCAD - building it on the side.

Creating a polygon The side-by-side autocad reduces to specifying the end points of one of the sides of a polygon in space. polygon regular. Positioning in the drawing The autocad of a polygon constructed in this way also reduces to positioning one of its sides in the space.

Call the MH-Angle command, then specify the number of sides of the AutoCAD 10 polygon.

At the prompt on the command line:

Specify the center of the polygon or [Party]:

Select the MH-Angle command side option. AutoCAD will issue a request:

First end point of the side:

Clicking on an empty place in the drawing or entering coordinates in the command line, we indicate the first end point of the side of the polygon. The following prompt appears:

The second end point of the side:

Let's specify it by clicking the mouse. Note that, before specifying the second endpoint of the side, the sketch of the polygon AutoCAD rotates around the first point of the side following the movement of the crosshair cursor.

Once you specify the second end point of the side, the polygon is constructed, and the MH-Angle command completes its execution.
