Array in AutoCAD

Array in AutoCAD

In this lesson, we'll look at how to work in AutoCAD with the Command Array. We have already studied many editing tools in AutoCAD. We will add to our knowledge collection and study another editing tool in AutoCAD - the tool Array.

Often during the creation of drawings in AutoCAD, you need to draw groups of identical objects located in space in a certain order. Just for this purpose the tool the Array in Autocad serves.

You can use the drawing tools in AutoCAD. Draw an object, and then copy it to a certain number of times. But there are situations when you want to place an object in a circle or along a path. In AutoCAD for this case, tools are used "Circular array in AutoCAD" and "Array along the path to AutoCAD."

In the new versions of AutoCAD, arrays are built in interactive mode.

Creating a rectangular array in AutoCAD

Let's construct a circle in AutoCAD. We will construct a rectangular array by clicking on the rectangular array button in the AutoCAD on the Main toolbar tab, the Edit toolbar.

Then select the object that will be duplicated and eventually make up a rectangular array in AutoCAD, press Enter.

Then click the point of the opposite (diagonal) corner of the grid, to set the number of rows and columns of the array in AutoCad.

Then click the point of the opposite corner of the array grid, to specify the distance between the columns and rows of the array in AutoCAD, press Enter.

After you have created an array in AutoCAD, you can edit it. Just select a rectangular array. A temporary tab appears on the toolbar that contains the AutoCAD parameters of the array.

Creating a Circular Array in AutoCAD

The construction of a circular array in the Autocad is determined by certain actions. Construct the source object that will define the AutoCAD circular array.

Check the circular array button in the AutoCAD on the toolbar, the Home tab, the Edit toolbar.

Next, set the center point of the circular array, by clicking the mouse.

Now set the number of circular objects in the AutoCAD. Let's enter the value 12, press Enter.

Next, set the angle of filling the array, let it be 180 degrees.

Creating an array along a path in AutoCAD

To create an array along a path in AutoCAD, trajectories and the original object in advance draw. I used as a trajectory array in AutoCAD polyline.

Click the "Path Array" button in the AutoCAD tape toolbar, the Home tab, the Edit toolbar. In the drop-down list of buttons, 3 types of arrays in AutoCAD: a rectangular array, a circular array, and an array along a path.

Select the object, then the trajectory of the AutoCAD array. When you move the cursor, the array starts to be built along the path. Enter the number of objects in the command line. Enter the value 12, press Enter.

Set the distance between the objects of the array along the path to AutoCAD. If the entered distance between the objects of the AutoCAD array exceeds the length of the path, AutoCAD will require you to correct it. If you select "Yes", AutoCAD will automatically place 12 array objects along the path. If you select "No", enter a new valid value.

In this lesson we studied the array in AutoCAD, analyzed how you can draw, edit arrays in AutoCAD (rectangular, circular array and array along the path to AutoCAD). Complete the lessons AutoCAD for "dummies" from Eugene Kuricin.
